Autumn is the season for kids as three 2004 Sloanies sent in announcements for new additions to their family:

Linnea Lily Shay was born Sept 25 in London at 9:19 am to Mark and Anna Shay. She weighed in at 3,420 grams (0.539 stones). She is pictured here with her brother Leo and Sister Ella.

A girl was also the happy news for Kim and Manny Picciola. Sofia Francesca Louise Picciola arrived on Sept 25 in Chicago weighing 7 lbs 15 oz and measuring 19 inches long. Manny prepared a photo album for everyone to see pics of the next Sloanie 2034!

And the most recent addition, Amy Juliet Terrell was born Friday, October 13th 2006, at 4:07pm EST to Brad and Kristin Terrell. Amy weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 18 inches long. The proud papa has the pictures up on Ofoto and is happy to report that both mom and daughter are doing well.

BOSTON GATHERING

If you find yourself in Boston on Wednesday, Feb. 8, please do head over to Middlesex Lounge right by the Miracle of Science in Central Square. At around 7 pm, a bunch of 04's will be drinking and catching up. (and hopefully, dropping a few one-liners for some blog content!).

GOOD LUCK RAHUL, WE'LL MISS YOU. Our favorite tall Rahul (or drunk Rahul, depending on the circumstance) has left NYC, in fact the entire United States, for a happy life with his soon-to-be blushing bride and spanking new job in India. As much as it will be difficult for us to contemplate an existence without hearing "love it. love it. love it." after suggesting a mad night of fun, we wish him the best. Don't think you've gotten rid of us so easily Rahul, there are visits to India in our future!

Congratulations to Marcus and Anisha, proud parents of MayaVarma-Wilson. The lovely young lady (and future heartbreaker with those stellar genes) was born April 20 at 12:23 a.m. Maya weighed 8 lbs and 1oz. and was 20.5 in long.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depends on whether you park your car out by Fenway), most of us have since left Boston before this grand event. I was stuck to the television for the past couple of days, as I'm sure you were too. Suddenly found myself hanging out in sports bars and only agreeing to go out to dinner if there was a TV involved. Bill and Lance, our condolences to you, but we sure are happy that the Red Sox won last night. What a team, what a team.

THE FUTURE OF SLOANBLOG
After some consideration and discussion with various parties (ok, maybe just Rob Byrne), we here at OVERHEARD have decided to keep the blog going, for as long as the Man over at Blogger and Google continue to keep the service free. Of course, given the gadzillions they raked in with the IPO, damn right they should keep it free.

So now, apart from being a forum for various random thoughts and overheard quotes from 2004 Sloanies now scattered throughout the globe, OVERHEARD is open for posts from you. New addition to the family, events you might be organizing, an open invite to your vacation home in the British Virgin Islands - everything is welcome! (Well, with the possible exception of porn site links from Lionel).

How to post on the blog:
Option 1: Ask to be made a member of the blog. Send an email to michelle@sloan.mit.edu and I will send you an invite and you can start posting away using the Blogger interface.
Option 2: Use the general member account. Username: sloanie04. Password: a certain building we [used to] hold near and dear to our hearts. If you can't figure it out, shoot an email over to michelle_at_sloan. You can access the blog dashboard [main website] through here. Please remember to format your posts the way they're done in the rest of the blog.
Option 3: Use the comments section. We've recently added this section so everyone can post to it, no emails necessary. What you write in the comments won't show up in the main page, though.

So basically, this is going to be some sort of blog-bulletin board hybrid that people can use to keep in touch with. In the interest of keeping things entertaining, we'd appreciate wit, snark and all those things that make good copy in your posts. (helpful hint: keep quoting Lance) Happy posting!

Researchers at University College London say otherwise. Which brings me to another quote (or to be more accurate, paraphrase) from our friend Mr. Kechley.
